Insurance advisory
Strategy, management, and transaction advisory for the life and general insurance sectors.
Grounded in senior executive operational experience, rather than traditional consulting playbooks.
Who we work with
Practical market perspective for policy, licensing and supervisory decisions.
Life, general, health and specialty insurance operators preparing for growth or change.
Brokers, advisors and distribution partners navigating capability and market structure.
Private equity, family offices and groups assessing insurance opportunities in the GCC.
What we do
Most advisory comes from people who have an academic understanding of the sector. daVaam comes from someone who has run it.
That difference matters when the work is real: a transaction that has to close, an investment committee that has to sign off, a capability that has to be built, a regulator that has to be satisfied.
CEO/General Manager, CFO and Group Strategy & M&A lead within an international insurance group: accountable to CBUAE (Central Bank of the UAE), DFSA (Dubai Financial Services Authority) and IFSA (Isle of Man FSA), with transactions led before UK and European regulators.
Insurance M&A experienced as buyer, seller and integrator: UK PLC processes, private-equity ownership changes and multi-jurisdiction regulatory approvals.
daVaam partners through to completion, solving matters to the end with data-rigorous insight, not report-and-retreat.
Our services
Deals that have to close, read from both sides of the table. Valuation, deal coordination, negotiation, board papers and regulatory approvals across the full transaction lifecycle.
From opportunity to operating capability in the GCC. Go-to-market, licensing, business planning and capability build for groups, family offices and consolidators.
The regulator relationship, managed from the executive's chair. Licensing architecture, approvals and regulator engagement handled diplomatically, not as a compliance checklist.
Senior leadership for the phase that decides everything. CEO, CFO and CSO capability on a fractional basis through a build, a turnaround, a transaction or a transition.
Independent oversight from someone who has held the seat. Board-level governance grounded in regulated-entity and board experience.
Evidence to underwrite the decision. Data-led market research, competitor benchmarking and industry insight for strategic and investment decisions.
Engagement note: Where an engagement requires a formal executive or board appointment within a regulated entity, that appointment is held by Adnan Lateef personally, subject to regulatory approval. daVaam does not perform regulated activities.

The questions I keep returning to in GCC insurance, and what the data shows. Written from the operator’s lens.
Population and household wealth have compounded for a decade.
Life premiums have not. I build the gaps from regulatory data, then triangulate with global penetration statistics – then ask what could close it.
Most GCC market reports read the sector as a single industry. Wrong lens.
Most general insurance reprices at each renewal.
Life is long-duration: it carries its pricing for decades, and a strong sales year books a loss before it books a profit.
Judge one by the other's metrics and you misprice it, and lose shareholders' confidence.
Traditional channels (Bancassurance, brokers) vs. modern channels (Digital D2C; aggregators, Telcos, etc.). Each channel sells something. What can be achieved through each channel and what limitations apply – the challenges are structural.
Influencing how a family commits its money is not a sales transaction. It is sacred.
Yet the same cold-calling machinery that sells credit cards and property tries to offer financial advice. What Advisor standards should look like and how customers can corroborate what they are told.
These are live pieces of work, not a back catalogue. If one is a current question for you, write to me at Adnan.Lateef@davaam.ae
About us
daVaam is the advisory practice of Adnan Lateef, a senior insurance executive with 25+ years across the UK, Europe and the GCC.
Most recently Group Head of Corporate Office, CEO/General Manager (UAE) and CFO (DIFC) within an international financial services group, his work has spanned group strategy, M&A, business planning and decision support, alongside running regulated entities across CBUAE, DFSA and IFSA, with transaction experience before UK and European regulators.
Earlier roles include Legal & General plc, Ernst & Young and PwC.
The thesis behind daVaam is simple: the GCC insurance sector is under-developed relative to its potential, and the UAE is primed to take the leading role. daVaam aims to be a key partner in that growth, working with regulators, insurers, intermediaries and investors.
About us | Brand
In Arabic, Urdu and Persian, the word means permanence, continuity and endurance: legacy that carries across generations.
The insurance industry makes promises meant to last across lifetimes, to endure what people build, beyond the moment of the promise. daVaam carries the same intent into advisory: supporting the building of things that are meant to last.
